ABOUT THE SMALL WILDCAT
RESOURCE GROUP

MISSION & GOALS

Our mission is to raise the profile of small wildcats across a multitude of generations and audiences. 

​

We will do this by providing easy access to education, research, husbandry, conservation and fundraising material.

​

We will also promote conservation organisations working to conserve small cats in the wild that we believe deserve funds and attention.

​

In the future we also want to start fundraising ourselves to support important conservation efforts.​

​

We are run by a committee of six likeminded zookeepers, learn more about us below:

Lauren is privileged to have worked with 15 cat species. As well as caring for the carnivores at Howletts Wild Animal Park, she is also Clouded Leopard EEP coordinator and cofounder of International Clouded Leopard Day. Lauren is looking forward to seeing this small wildcat community grow and showcasing all the amazing work people do to conserve small wildcats.

Alice is a Carnivore Keeper, Director of the Keeper Educational Exchange Programme and Ambassador to the Clouded Leopard Working Group. She is also on the Clouded Leopard EEP committee and loves working with fellow keepers to improve the welfare of zoo professionals and the animals they care for.

Ricky has been working with big and small cats in zoos for over 20 years. He is the Caracal monitor and studbook keeper for the EAZA FelidTAG and an ambassador for the Rusty Spotted Cat Working Group.

Kim is the section leader of primates and small mammals at Hertfordshire Zoo and has over 15 years of experience in the care of a large variety of small cat species. She is really excited to have a hub for all individuals that are passionate about small cats, where we can all learn and spread the word on small cat conservation.

Gary is the Head of Carnivores at Five Sisters Zoo and has over 10 years of experience in the care of various small cat species, with a passion for promoting their welfare and conservation. In addition to cats, Gary also has a love for bears and is a co-chair of the BIAZA Bear Focus Group.

James is a UK Zookeeper and while his main passion is for lions, he has had the privilege of working with Clouded Leopards and Pallas's Cats for several years and has enjoyed learning more about the smaller cats in this time. He also is chairman and founder of the Safina Lion Conservation Fund and is delighted to help Lauren and Alice with their new venture!
